Michael Carey (priest)
Michael Sausmarez Carey (7 December 1913 - 29 October 1985〔"Very Rev Michael Carey", ''The Times'', 18 November 1985, p14〕) was an Anglican priest.〔''Who was Who'', 1897-1990, London, A & C Black, 1991, ISBN 0-7136-3457-X〕
Carey was educated at Haileybury and Imperial Service College and Keble College, Oxford. He was ordained in 1939.〔''Crockford's Clerical Directory 1940-41'', Oxford, OUP, 1941〕 After a curacy at St John’s Waterloo Road he became chaplain of Ripon College Cuddesdon. After a short time as a mission priest in Gambia he became Rector of Hunsdon and then Botley. He was the Archdeacon of Ely from 1962 to 1970 and then Dean of Ely until 1982.〔(National Archives )〕
